Show working
Gross = Net × (1 + Rate ÷ 100)= 1,000 × (1 + 18 ÷ 100)= 1,180
How it’s worked out
- 1To add GST, multiply the amount by (1 + rate ÷ 100). ₹1,000 at 18% is ₹1,180.
- 2To remove GST from an inclusive price, divide by (1 + rate ÷ 100). Taking 18% off ₹1,180 is wrong; dividing by 1.18 gives the right ₹1,000.
- 3Within a state the tax is split equally into CGST and SGST; between states it’s charged as IGST. The presets are the slabs in use since September 2025.
1,000 plus 18% GST is 1,180.
